UNWTO/ICAO High-Level Forum: Tourism and Transport for Development

The connectivity brought by air transport is at the heart of tourism development, providing substantial economic benefits for all those involved in the tourism value chain. Against this backdrop, this joint UNWTO/ICAO High-Level Forum will bring together, for the first time, Ministers of Tourism and Ministers of Transport to strengthen the links between both sectors and maximize its impact on employment, inclusive growth and sustainable development.

The High-Level Forum will be open for all registered participants to the UNWTO General Assembly.

UNWTO Gastronomy Network Lunch

This event will introduce the UNWTO Gastronomy Network to Affiliate and Full Members as well as define the Gastronomy Network action plan for 2016. The Gastronomy Network will follow the model of the Knowledge Network as a forum within the Affiliate Members Programme where experts, destinations, academics and a wide variety of public and private sector stakeholders can work together in shaping the future of  food tourism.

UNWTO Shopping Tourism Network Lunch

Financing of Tourism for Development

This Special Event will provide UNWTO Member States with opportunities to identify development aid in general and aid for tourism in particular, through presentations of case studies and initiatives of financial development institutions. The aim is to demonstrate the modus operandi to access funding for tourism, and outline the forthcoming availability of aid in the Post-2015 Development Agenda. The discussions will also look at the potential benefits of investing in tourism development from both the donor and recipient perspective.
