UNWTO Tourism Video Competition Guidelines


What is the UNWTO Tourism Video Competition?

The UNWTO Tourism Video Competition is launched in 2017 on the occasion of the 22st session of the UNWTO General Assembly. It provides UNWTO Member States with a great opportunity to showcase their creative work in the field of tourism promotion. The Competition will award outstanding country promotional videos recognizing the significant importance of multimedia in marketing tourism destinations.

Who can participate?

The Competition is open to all UNWTO Member States and shall be channeled exclusively through the National Tourism Administrations.

What type of videos can be entered in the competition?

Each Member State is invited to submit one sole video complying with the following:

  • The video must be part of an official national tourism campaign from the year 2011 onwards;
  • The video must be representative of the country's tourism;
  • The video must contain the name of the country it represents;
  • The video must be submitted in standard video format (.avi, .mov, .mp4, .wmv);


The winners of the UNWTO Tourism Video Prizes in its two categories - one prize for each UNWTO region decided by the jury constituted by representatives of each of the UNWTO Commission Meetings held at the 22st General Assembly and one as the People's Choice Award – will be announced at the 22st Session of the UNWTO General Assembly. The People's Choice Award will be based on an online poll open to the general public on the UNWTO website.

Use of the videos

All videos validly entered in the competition will be shown on screens at the venue of the 22st Session of the General Assembly. Throughout the competition period, all official videos submitted will be featured on the UNWTO website and promoted on UNWTO’s communication channels. 



The participant hereby represents and warrants that he/she is the author of all the material submitted to UNWTO via the website and shall defend and hold UNWTO harmless from any action, claim, loss, damage, liability and/or expense arising from or connected to the infringement of intellectual property rights or copyright with respect to the material submitted. The participant hereby grants UNWTO an irrevocable, royalty-free and perpetual license right to use without restriction and reproduce all submitted materials, including without limitation the copying, transmission, distribution and publication for display or promotion purposes.
